Vacancy: Editor of New London Synagogue’s magazine
The editor is responsible for sourcing lively and relevant content for two editions of the magazine, at Pesach and Rosh Hashanah, laying out pages and liaising with the printer to ensure timely delivery of the magazines to the synagogue’s membership.
This position is offered on the basis of producing two editions per year of our magazine. A Previous edition can be seen here.
Pay rates: competitive.

Requirements:
• Excellent knowledge of the British Jewish community and its institutions and the political, social and religious issues that are of interest to readers
• Good writing and sub-editing skills, including ability to write relevant features
• Willingness and ability to making and foster connections with synagogue members of all ages, including conducting interviews
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other members of the NLS team
Type Setting in Adobe InDesign

Desired:
• Access to and good working knowledge of InDesign software
• Experience of managing print production projects
• Knowledge of copyright and permissions, and defamation law

The editor’s role over recent years has included communication with advertisers and with members regarding announcements (births, b’nei mitzvah and weddings).
