"Like Shabbes at home, but with a bigger crowd!"
NLS Young Adult Dinners are an initiative of a small (and now expanded) group of members of New London, whose goal it is to encourage young Jewish members of the London community to meet and celebrate Shabbat together, in an informal environment. The dinners are replete with tradition but lighter on education. YAD takes place on a Friday night after the 6:30pm evening services at New London Synagogue. There's one every 2-3 months.
We usually have between 40 and 60 young adults who tend to identify as Masorti Jews, and we enjoy a three-course meal, with plenty of wine and mingling over dessert and cocktails. Expect kiddush, handwashing and challah, a 3-course dinner, cocktails, and birkat hamazon (grace after meals) -- all led by the participants (although sometimes our clergy pop in to say 'hi').
These dinners are a great way to catch up with old friends, or make new ones in a warm and welcoming Jewish environment.
Help is always appreciated - cooking, setting up the room, serving, clearing up on the evening, etc. Contact Cantor Jason Green
