We organise a number of events each year for children and their parents which are open to all children or grandchildren in the community and their families. For more details of all family events, please contact Susannah Alexander
FAMILY FRIDAY NIGHTS
Would you like to come to a service where there are other families whom you know, where the children are taught songs to enable them to be part of the service, and where we work together to build friendships and community? If so, our brand new Family Friday nights could be for you.
As you know, Friday night services are relatively short, and there are plenty of opportunities to sing along, so they are an ideal opportunity for children to begin to make the transition from children’s services. Once a month, families will be particularly welcome at the Friday night service. There will be a snack beforehand, during which Chazan Stephen Cotsen, will teach some of the melodies for the service so they can sing along and soon, we hope help Stephen lead the service. During the service, all the children will sit together at the front of the synagogue, and be encouraged to take part.
Our first Family Friday took place on Friday 5 March and was a great success. The structure of the evening is:
6.00 Singing and snacks with Stephen
6.30 Service begins. Children sit together in the Synagogue
7.15 Service ends
Future dates are: 26 March, 23rd April, 14th May – please put them in your diary.
In order to make this event a success, and fun for the children, we would like to encourage as many families as possible to take part. Therefore, please feel free to bring friends and family to join us. You do not need to book; just turn up.
