Welcome to our Cheder!
Y A friendly, welcoming atmosphere
Y Small classes
Y Creative, experiential learning opportunities
Y Special events and outings
Y A strong Masorti ethos
We welcome you to our small but exceptionally welcoming, friendly and innovative Cheder.
We warmly invite all families with children aged 3-14 to join us for another exciting year of learning and fun.
The Sukkot term begins on Sunday 5 September at 9.45am with a Rosh Hashanah workshop morning. For children aged 3-5 there will be an open morning of arts, crafts, singing, story telling and plenty of other activities. Parents are welcome to take part as well. This is a perfect opportunity for younger children to spend an informal morning with us, and find out if Cheder is for them.
For children aged 6 and over, and for adults, we invite you to select from a range of workshops related to Rosh Hashanah. There will be text study, shofar blowing, art activities, and tasty things to eat. The day will begin at 9.45 with a whole-school assembly, and the workshops will end by 12.30. For all families who would like to continue their learning, there will be a tashlich picnic in Regent’s Park after Cheder. As well as eating and talking together, we will have an opportunity to practice the custom of tashlich together. There is a Klezmer festival and family activities in the park that afternoon, so this will be an excellent opportunity to join the fun.
There will, of course, be services for children of all ages during the High Holy Days. But the special events don’t stop there. Here are just a few of the exciting things we have planned for our pupils this term:
- Sunday 26 September – Family lunch in the Sukkah after Cheder
- Thursday 30 September – Erev Simchat Torah Family Programme
- Sunday 21 November – Activities for National Mitzvah Day
- Sunday 5 December – Chanukah party and annual Chanukah play
