Update from NLS: 9 March 2010

On Friday 19th March we are hosting a communal Friday Night Dinner – it’s the week before Pesach.

Our speakers are connected with London Citizens, an organisation that works for social justice, best known for their work on the Living Wage Campaign.

I’m interested in what the Passover story - our most glorious narrative - means today, in this society still marked by a split between the haves and have-nots.

What is our role, as Jews, in engaging with the challenges of today?

How do all our Pesach preparations connect to the universal aspiration towards freedom?

They will be helping us look at some issues around Living Wage in London today. I’m also very interested in partnering with London Citizens to develop our ability, as a community, to engage with the issues of our surrounding society and work towards its healing and progress.

If these are question which interest you, I do hope you will come. If you are interested in getting more involved in this kind of very Jewish action into the future, I can explain more on the 19th, or let me know directly.

The dinner is open to all, and will follow the Shabbat evening service which begins at 6:30pm.

£18 members, £20 non-members.

Places need to be booked by midday Tuesday 15th March.

Please contact the Synagogue office        0207 328 1026 to reserve your places.
