Covid has transformed our lives in so many ways, and our High Holyday celebrations will, like everything else, be transformed.

This year we will offer;

Uploaded videos
These are already well underway; featuring Chazan Stephen, Rabbis Jeremy and Natasha and many members all coming together to give a sense of our liturgy and sense of community. These will be available for viewing in advance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In fact we are currently looking for contributions to our Community Choir Project, our Youth Community Choir Project and our Mass Participation Project (more on this last one to follow).

In-Building Services
We plan to offer three Covid-compliant in-building services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah (Saturday 19th Sept) and four in-building services on Yom Kippur (Sunday 28th Sept);
• An early morning ‘no-frills’ service
• A late morning ‘highlights’ service with Chazan Stephen and Rabbi Jeremy
• And a more creative and contemplative service also suitable for families in the afternoon with Kohenet Rachel Rose Reid.
• On Yom Kippur we will also an in-building service for Neilah.

Members will have the opportunity to sign up for allocated seats for one service on each of these days on a first-come, first-served basis from mid-August.

We will not be able to accommodate those under 12 for the morning services of first day Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, or those under 10 for the afternoon services. We will be offering dedicated Youth Provision on the second day of Rosh Hashanah (including Shofar blowing) and Erev Yom Kippur (morning of Sunday 27th September).

We are currently running in-building services with the Covid-compliance protocols viewable here

Similar protocols will be in place for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Streaming of In-Building Services
We plan to stream the activity in the Sanctuary using ‘set & forget’ technology over the duration of Yom Tov. Cameras in the sanctuary will be able to tilt, pan and zoom to pick up who is speaking and that feed will be streamed to a page in the New London website. All members will receive information on how to set their own devices before Yom Tov so they can see and hear what is happening in the sanctuary at any time during Yom Tov. We are currently unsure as to how and whether non-members (including members of other Synagogues) will be able to access this provision. Any non-member interested in hearing more about this, please fill out the form here

Zoom Services on the Fringes of Yom Tov
First Day Maariv Rosh Hashanah (Friday 18th Sept) and Kol Nidrei (Sunday 27th Sept) Services will be offered on Zoom and live-streamed to our Facebook page These services will be times to conclude before candle-lighting.

In these extraordinary times we are working hard to bring our community together and provide opportunities for us all to experience these glorious days in as close a way to what we would desire as possible. Your support (and feedback! is warmly appreciated.

May this new year come to us all in health and sweetness.
