Leave a Legacy for Future Generations
For over 60 years, New London Synagogue has been a beacon of modern Jewish thought and practice, grounded in tradition and open to all. Our strength comes from the commitment of our members—those who have helped shape and sustain our community. Now, we invite you to help secure its future.
Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most significant ways to ensure that New London
Synagogue remains a place of inspiration and connection for future generations. Legacy giving is for everyone—not just for the wealthy. Even a modest contribution can make a meaningful difference in supporting our services, educational programmes, and maintaining our Grade II-listed building.
How to Leave us a Gift in your Will
There are several ways you can leave a gift in your will:
- A residuary gift – a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses are covered
- A pecuniary gift – a fixed sum of money
- Specific items of financial value – such as property or shares
Examples of suggested wording for your will are:
- “I leave _% of the residue of my estate to New London Synagogue, Registered Charity Number 1133578.”
- “I leave the sum of £XXX / [list specific items of value] to New London Synagogue, Registered Charity Number 1133578.”
You might prefer to direct your donation to a particular area of our work or allow us to direct your support as needed. Designations can be made to:
- Education and learning – inspiring the next generation with Jewish knowledge, values and traditions
- Our running and staffing costs – enabling us to offer high-quality services, pastoral care and community events
- Our building and facilities – ensuring a safe, accessible and warm home for Jewish life, prayer, and learning
We recommend you consult a solicitor when drafting or updating your will to ensure your wishes are carried out correctly.
If you would like to discuss leaving a legacy gift, please contact our treasurer, Brian Linden. Brian can be contacted via office@newlondon.org.uk. All conversations will be treated in confidence.
Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
